Tamil Nadu’s Group 1 Exam is a competitive examination conducted by the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC). TNPSC has released the recruitment exam notification for the year 2020 for various Group 1 services such as Deputy Collector, Deputy Superintendent of Police, etc.

*Relaxation in Upper Age Limit is applicable for certain categories of candidates. Upper age limit also varies for certain services.

Exam Pattern

The Preliminary examination will have ONE paper for 300 marks. It will consist of questions from General Studies and Aptitude & Mental Ability. The paper will have objective Type & multiple-choice questions. Also, there is No Penalty for wrong answers

The Preliminary Examination is meant to serve as a screening test only. The marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination by the applicants who are declared qualified for admission to the Main Written Examination will not be counted for determining their final order of merit.

Mains will be a written examination consisting of 3 papers on General studies. The marks scored in Mains stage along with the marks scored in Interview will be taken into consideration for the final merit list.

The interview will be conducted for 100 marks. It will relate to the matter of general interest keeping the matter of academic interest in view and for general awareness, intelligence, character, expression power/personality, and general suitability for the service.

The test is intended to judge the mental caliber of a candidate. In broad terms, this is really an assessment of not only the candidate's intellectual qualities but also social traits and his/her interest in current affairs.
